The Simpsons Quiz β America's Favorite Animated Family
The Simpsons began as short sketches between comedy scenes on The Tracey Ullman Show in 1987. Two years later, Fox gave the yellow family its own half-hour series, and it went on to become the longest-running American animated series and scripted primetime show in history. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie are now known around the world.
Part of the show's success is Springfield itself. The town is packed with hundreds of characters, from Ned Flanders next door to Apu at the Kwik-E-Mart, Krusty the Clown on TV and Mr. Burns at the nuclear plant. Each one has a recognizable voice, look and catchphrase, and many have starred in episodes of their own.
The writers became famous for packing every scene with jokes, references and visual gags, so fans can rewatch episodes and still spot new details. The show has also become known for seeming to predict real events years before they happened.
The Simpsons has won dozens of Emmy Awards, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and inspired a hit film in 2007. Words from the show, like Homer's famous annoyed grunt, have even been added to dictionaries.
This quiz covers the family, the town and the history of the show, from its first sketches to its biggest records.
