Star Wars Quiz – A Long Time Ago, In a Galaxy Far, Far Away

In 1977, a young filmmaker named George Lucas released a space adventure that few studios believed in. Star Wars mixed westerns, samurai films, old movie serials and myth into a simple story of a farm boy, a princess, a smuggler and a wise old knight. It broke box-office records, launched a toy industry and changed how Hollywood makes blockbusters.

The original trilogy followed Luke Skywalker's journey from Tatooine to his final confrontation with Darth Vader and the Emperor. In 1999, Lucas returned with a prequel trilogy that showed how Anakin Skywalker fell to the dark side. After Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, a sequel trilogy, spin-off films and streaming series brought the galaxy to a new generation.

Star Wars is also famous for its sounds and music. John Williams wrote the score, and sound designer Ben Burtt created the hum of the lightsaber, the breathing of Darth Vader and the beeps of R2-D2 from everyday recordings.

This quiz focuses mostly on the films that started it all, with a few questions from the newer era. Fans who know their Wookiees from their Ewoks should do well.
