Disney Princess Quiz β From Snow White to Moana
Disney's princess films span almost 80 years of animation. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs opened in 1937, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty followed in the 1950s, and The Little Mermaid in 1989 began a run of hits that included Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas and Mulan. Later films such as The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Brave and Moana gave the heroines new kinds of goals, from opening a restaurant to sailing across the Pacific.
Disney grouped these characters into the official Disney Princess line in 2000, and today they appear on everything from books to theme park parades.
The films also show how animation changed. Snow White was drawn and painted by hand, The Little Mermaid was the last Disney feature to use hand-painted cels, Tangled was the first princess film made fully with computer animation, and Moana mixed computer animation with hand-drawn tattoos on the demigod Maui. Many of the songs became hits on their own, and A Whole New World from Aladdin won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
