Bing Billionaires Quiz – How the Richest Made Their Money
Billionaires fascinate people around the world. Their fortunes, often tied to famous companies, can be larger than the economies of entire countries. Every year, Forbes publishes a list of the world's billionaires, and in 2026 it counted a record 3,428 of them. The list tracks who is rising, who is falling and which industries are creating the most wealth.
Many of today's richest people made their money in technology. Elon Musk, who leads Tesla and SpaceX, topped the 2026 list, and in 2025 he became the first person estimated to be worth more than 500 billion dollars. Others, such as Jeff Bezos of Amazon and Larry Page and Sergey Brin of Google, also built huge fortunes from internet businesses.
Other billionaires come from very different fields. Bernard Arnault built the luxury empire LVMH, Amancio Ortega created the fashion chain Zara, and Mukesh Ambani leads the Indian giant Reliance. Warren Buffett, one of the most famous investors in history, made his money by buying and holding great companies through Berkshire Hathaway.
Great wealth is not new. John D. Rockefeller became America's first reported billionaire in the early 20th century, and Mansa Musa of Mali is often called the richest person ever. Today, many billionaires have signed the Giving Pledge, promising to give away most of their fortunes, while others face debate over taxes and their influence on society.
This quiz covers the people, companies and history behind the world's biggest fortunes.
